It’s a rainy day here in the city, so I decided to skip the humidity and stay in to tackle some projects regarding my new room. Though my birch bookcase was certainly an ikea steal, it was just too plain for my taste. Lucky for me this quick project proved to be easy and added the pop of color needed to spruce up my room. I drew some inspiration from my pinterest craft board , found the perfect shiny striped paper and got to work.

This was a relatively easy and quick project. I found some amazing paper sheets at Utrecht (Papyrus also has a massive selection.) I painted ModPodge onto the back of my bookcase, then placed my sheets of paper letting the left-over paper fold over, so its perfectly aligned.
I used a X-acto knife to cut off the overlapping paper, which was much easier then measuring the sheets ahead of time. The paper I used was rather thin, and it bunched up creating a crinkled texture that I really like, but using a thicker paper like wrapping paper or card stock could eliminate this element, if it’s not your personal aesthetic. The entire lining took me about 30 minutes and I love the contrast it creates in my room. Also, I should mention I did the entire thing in under $15. Not too shabby!

all this hard work deserves some R&R on my balcony!

I love your decorating. Are those shelves by the bed from someplace popular? They almost look like floating shelves.
Thank you and Yes, they are called Lack from Ikea!
Nice job! I love your tidy work space! Is that really the view from your balcony?? OMG! I can’t wait to come and visit!!
